The 4th Rampant Lion Rally or is it the first of a new breed on Lion. A new site, a new club, another party. This is a 'close to home' rally for me, but I still managed to get lost in Dunfermline, looks nothin' like it does on the map. The roads ain't painted red for a start. I stopped to ask someone directions, the response was "up this road, turn right by the landfill site and right at the broken bridge" sounds er, promisin' |

When I turned into the site and passed through he gates I found myself driving through a huge site populated by large courrugated iron clad sheds and nissen huts, (incidentally originally designed by, and named after, a British mining engineer, Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Nissen, there's today's pub quiz answer.), now who would have thought that these simple huts would have inspired the entire japanese car industry. The site turns out to be an old MOD base, probably the secret testing facility for fife-borne germ warfare or nuclear enema testing. |

My immediate impression
of the site was that I was waiting for Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart to appear
out of one of the big sheds being chased by daleks or cybermen, the place
had that sort of feel to it, and if you get that then yer a) as old as me
and b) just 'as no right in the hied', excuse the complex medical terminology.
Now, bereft of alien invaders, it has a new lease of life as half business park and half Scottish Vintage Bus Museum. Unfortunately the vintage buses were all tucked up in their sheds under giant 450 tog duvets so it didn't look like we were gettin' 'shotties'. |

Having checked the weekend
weather forecast on www.weknowfuckallreallyandjustguess.com, the forecast
of heavy rain was, well, a load of bollocks, the BRST was out to play so
everyone was in fine fettle. I always find the ritual tent raising process much less stressful when it's not lashing down. Just as well I'd packed my new highly portable camping Hilti Gun and Tungsten tipped tent pegs, not that the ground was stoney or anything. |

The main event was being held in a hut at the end of the site, it's was jumping by the time I got there, about two hundred odd folk wre partying. well I can't actually testify that they were all odd, but judging by looks I'd say quite a few. I missed the first band 'Sway', well actually paid no attention whatsoever to them, sorry guy's, the bar was callin' and I thought that there was only one band on seeing as there big hap which said 'Joe's Band' hanging at the back of the stage. But I was told they were very good, by a very unreliable source. |

The atmosphere on Friday night was into full party mode pretty early, Joe's band made sure that the dance floor was full, this, ably assisted by free flowing alchohol of course. OK not free, but cheap. |

Fife scouts provided a mid session respite and sustainance, serving up a big plate o' mince & tatties, this appeared to be somewhat of a novelty for some folk visiting from south of the border, and here I thought they were international, I'm sure there are European laws about ploughed fields. It occurs to me that if ye don't eat mince & tatties ye'll be none the wiser to that remark. Oh well, ye don't know what yer missin' |
