I think the dictionary definition spells it out quite adequately; The Rampant Lion Rally was just what I needed. The first rally I’ve managed to get to this year, for good reasons, however I was summarily despatched with orders to go forth, party, get pished and have a guid time.

I could leave you in suspense until the end of the write up to disclose whether or not the mission was indeed accomplished, but hey, why wait, it was :-)

Being only a spit and a dash from my abode packing was easy, tent, bag cargo net, precariously mounted, camera in bag, off we go…..

Being a fixed date in the annual litany of shenanigans (wow, wid ye credit it, that word is even in the spell checker !) Ye kinda run out of things to say about the great site.

If you haven’t been and want to know more, or alternatively were so pished when ye arrived and stayed that way until ye left and need reminded of where the feck you actually were all weekend, refer back to one of the previous year’s write ups.

The marquees were pitched out the back of the hall alongside the braziers, which is where most of the other lepers, er, smokers like me spent much of the evening.

I wandered in occasionally, catching firstly, ‘Safehouse’ and ‘The Demon’s Eye’, nothing offensive but then I wasn’t exactly in the mindful (a.k.a sober) state to make any rational or qualitative judgement on them

The usual Suspects were in attendance, Black Widows, Dragonslayers, Cruisers etc, so it was good to catch up with folks I haven’t seen since last year. It’s as well we were all in the same nick, I’d hate to have been sober and listened to shite, albeit of the highest quality, that was being blethered

As per mandated ‘modus operandi’, recall becomes sketchy around this point, the order in which things happened, or indeed whether they happened at all and were simply a figlet of my imagination are unclear.

it wiz however, late o’clock when one of the fires was carried (Mark’s asbestos underpants do come in handy sometimes) down to the tents of the Forth Valley crew, I’ve a funny feeling we strangled some cats, at least, we made noises very similar to them, accompanied, of course by some virtuoso ? geetar bashing until the wee hours.

Saturday+Hangover=therapeutic administration of rolls & sossidge, why the hell not, a few of us descended to partake of a hearty breakfast at ma hoose then return to site and do the same all over again. Ah Therapy

Saturday’s bands were the curiously named “Wang Dang Delta” who played a mix of er, sort of erm, stuff, quite well but I didn’t recognize owt followed by “Dignal,Dowell+ White who played very well but not a huge amount that got the floor in a real frenzy, ‘cept of course ‘Sweet Home’ which filled the floor, pity they played summit really slow after filling the floor and duly empties it, hey ho.

The trophy winners are shown below, Dom won the tale of woe, having been off to swap a trike, rode back from Trowbridge only for the clutch to to turn from grippy to very slippy very quickly necessitating a backie of a nice bloke in a wagon, all the way to the rally, at least he made it.

After considerably more beer and cat strangling roon the fire I collapsed in a heap having had the requisite dosage of much needed therapy, cheers Rab, Raymond and the rest of the folks for another great party, god knows ah needed it :-)
