With one thing and another, and then some, life conspires to get in the way of fun.

But I managed to put enough shit off to make the Thistle Rally again this year as a respite from all the crap that ye seem to have to do to get by these days, and to get blootered of course :-).

A veritable february haven of drinkin, dancin, partyin, bletherin and eating, repeat as necessary and not necessarily in that order..

Global warming had made it's presence felt, a few years ago we were fighting with -9 degrees, which made the sign-in/grub tent an effective fridge for the sossy boys and shnegs

This year Peter had to go in search of ice to keep the food cold overnight. A sign of things to come ??

This is such a regular do in the diary and a well tried recipe that the differences are simply in the photies. Everyone comes out of hibernation and this is the first of the year for most.

The bands on Friday night were Daves band, ID then Full Metal Racket

I can only really comment that FMR turned out a great set as usual, I was busy gettin' fired in about a bottle of Bulleit bourbon which is like hen's teeth now to get.

So much so, Big Watty bought a pub just so as he could get a cash and carry card and provide me with a sure supply of Bulleit , what a guy :-)

Whisky Magazine Tasting Notes
Nose: Feisty and intense with some citrus oil, Seville orange, banana, maple syrup, smoke and sagebrush fires.
Palate: Perfumed start: a whiff of dried lavender, singed orange peel, dusty spice cupboards.
Finish: A whipcracking lash
,
Overall: Old-style, teeth-sucking stuff. If this was a singer it would be Merle Haggard. A great cocktail base.

Bikers1 Magazine Tasting Notes
Nose: I find it better consumed through the mouth, however a good joke may cause it to exit via said nose .
Palate: Yes I would like a whole palate of it please .
Finish: Yes, at your own risk
,
Overall: A nice blue oily one, keeps yer t shirt clean when someone tells you a good joke

Whilst I remember, actually I didn't I had to email Peter and Carol for lots of the details :-)

Saturday night's bands were the oddly named "Screaming meemies" then Apparition....

Both did a fine turn and filled the dance floor, least I think they did, it was all getting a bit er, hazy by this point.

Silly games, Yes there were many, after the usual 'pulling teeth' episode of getting folk out of a warm pub into a cauld field they fair took off.

The 'skis' had been improved since last year's initial design proved not to be robust enough for the poorly co-ordinated, they lasted well until it was considered a good idea to make the finalist step over a log, krunch, back to the drawing board, a couple of H beams next year perhaps.

By this point my bottle was near done, it took all my concentration to stay upright for the trophies.

Having said that Jimmy helped finish my bottle by using my can of half sprite, half bulleit as a mixer for his half pint of rum...... he was anyone's after that :-)

Big Watty managed his target of 28 pints, with counting help from the barstaff, like he was in any fit state to keep count, never mind keep upright. Marty and Me had a right old time trying to shove his wobbly 23 stone carcass up the stairs.
