Freedom Riders MCC - Denim 'n Leather Rally 8 May '99
The bike's finished and this is the first rally we've got to this year, got out o' bed and it was pishin' wi' rain, ho hum, by the time we got to Tyndrum the sun was out.
The rally site, near Croabh Haven village, ('kin Lord o' the Isles pub £12 for a bar supper, I don't $%^ think so!), was excellent, the field dipped towards the sea, with a brilliant view.
Unfortunately Cowboy, who organised the rally was stitched up good and proper, seems that some person had spread the word that the rally was off, hence food vans and stalls didn't turn up. It wasn't his fault, the club even did 2 chip shop runs (40 mile round trip tae Oban) to feed everyone on the Friday night, on Saturday they cobbled cooking stuff and sold roll's and sausage/burgers and gave coffee away for free. Most of those attending seemed pretty understanding about the situation bar a couple of folk shouting fraud and demanding money back, this isn't really the spirit considering the effort that it takes to put on a rally and when things get $%^ed up for reasons outwith their control.
One band decided to stay and play, they were pretty good even though most folk were in the barn/bar or huddled round the bonfire.
In spite of all the crap the club had to endure and serious financial losses we all had a great time and partied till we dropped.
Whether it happens next year remains to be seen, but if it does, we'll be goin'
AND my camera decided to screw up so I got no photies.
