So yer building somefink, modifying it, at some point ye'll need to play with bits of wire.

Here's a few bits on the subject, more to come.

So you've ended up at this stage (see   pic below), unwrapped the loom, you find that bit's don't stretch or wires are too long.

My advice is to throw it all away and start again. In this instance I got rid of two thirds of the wires after making a new loom. Okay the thought of this may make you gag/go to the pub/have an apoplectic siezure or just bang your head on the floor till it hurts (your head that is). It's not as horrible as it seems, sometimes it's easier to start again instead of trying to bodge and existing loom.

Things that you should definitely do !

• Get a wiring diagram
• Invest about £22 in a proper crimp/jap terminal set from "Vehicle Wiring Products", 9 Bxton Court, Manners Ind Est, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8EF Tel 0115 9305454 . These come with Jap terminals and transparent waterproof covers.
• A pair of wire strippers, the dinosaur type (maplins or halfords) which grip and strip in one go, dead handy and time saving.
• A digital multi meter, preferably one that goes beep when testing continuity, this saves you looking at it all the time.
• Pliers, small thin screwdriver
• Insulating tape, get this from an auto electrician, tell him it's for making looms, it's very flexible and doesn't harden or ooze sticky shite like crappy halfords or B&Q tape does.
• A soldering iron, a wee 15/25 watt one and some solder.
• A bottle of JD an' baccy or fags.
